I haven't always eaten healthy. In fact, it wasn't until 16 years ago when I had my twin boys that I even considered my food choices. Providing them with healthy food was easy, but not so much when it came to myself and what I was eating.
My wake-up call was when my young toddlers were offered "mainstream candy" and their reply was, "No, no, that is mommy’s”.
Wait, What???!!! Like the saying goes "out of the mouth of babes". I had flashbacks of handing them an apple as I ate a candy bar (talk about a double standard). From that point on I decided to start being a better example for my kids. After all, leading by word and by deed is the most affective form of influence. Fast forward a little to 4 boys later...those early years our diets consisted of anything saying "organic" which included convenient processed foods, gluten, and lots of refined sugar. At the time I wasn’t aware of the dangers of refined sugar, and that just because it says organic, doesn't make it good for you.
It wasn’t until my youngest son was 3-years old that my view on food changed again. It came with a phone call from my Dad who told me the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with cancer—Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma to be exact.
My father chose to go the natural route in healing his cancer and the first thing to go from his diet was refined sugar!
Wait...What???!!! This sounded impossible to me. How can anyone live without or eat anything tasty without refined sugar?! But thinking about the challenge he had ahead, we decided to support him by taking refined sugar out of our diet once a week. One day a week became two, and two became three, until one day became 365 days! Happy to say since January 1, 2019 we have given up refined sugar for good. In doing so, I've discovered a healthier version of myself and my family. I've had to get innovative in the kitchen, disciplined in my mindset and determined to stay the course. Since then I've seen amazing results and I've been able to encourage others to live a healthy life as well! And now we own an operate a store to show others how to live without the toxic ingredients in everyday food.
So, this is for those who want to Eat to Live and not live to eat. For those who are sick and tired of being sick and tired!! For those who want to heal and nourish their bodies with organic foods the way God intended, and for those who are on a quest to become the ultimate version of themselves. You can do it, we know you can! So glad to be on this journey with you!
